It’s the quiet whisper that hits right before you step on stage, hit "publish," or walk into a high-level meeting: “You don’t belong here. You’re not qualified. Eventually, everyone is going to find out you’re just making this up.”

Imposter syndrome is a universal tax on growth. The higher you climb and the more you try to step into "more" in your life work, the louder that whisper gets.

Most people try to fight imposter syndrome by hyping themselves up in the mirror or trying to prove their critics wrong. But relying on your own strength and your own qualifications is exhausting because there will always be someone smarter, more experienced, or more talented in the room.

God says something completely different about your identity: you are chosen.

Think about that word. You didn't crash this party. You didn't sneak in through the back door. You were intentionally selected and placed in your life, work, platform, or relationship circle by God and for an incredible purpose.

You don't have to carry the pressure of being the smartest person in the room when you realize you are there on a divine assignment. God doesn't call people because they are flawlessly qualified; He qualifies people because they are willing to show up. Your presence in the room isn't an accident—it's an alignment. You have been given at the table.

What’s your play?

  • Change your entrance cue: The next time you walk into a intimidating room or open a difficult email, stop telling yourself, "I hope they like me." Start telling yourself, "I am here to serve, and I am here on purpose."

  • Audit yourself: Write down the areas where you genuinely feel unqualified. Instead of hiding them, hand them over to God. Ask Him to use your weaknesses to show His strength. It takes the pressure off you having to be perfect.

  • Focus on the assignment, not the applause: Shift your focus entirely off how you are performing and place it on the people you are there to help. Imposter syndrome starves to death when you become obsessed with serving others rather than protecting your own ego.

The Takeaway: You aren't an imposter when you are on an assignment from the King. Walk into the room with your head held high.
